Planning your service
Lost car keys and spare-key planning
Tell us whether any working key remains
An all-keys-lost request differs from making a spare while a working key is available. The vehicle security system, key type, and access to the vehicle affect the process. Explain whether the key is missing, broken, or present but unable to start the vehicle.
Identify the vehicle and key system
Have the exact year, make, and model ready. A mechanical key, a transponder key, and a proximity fob are different products and can require different equipment. A photo of the existing key or remote can help identify it, but compatibility still needs to be checked for the specific vehicle.
Prepare the location and authorization
Describe where the vehicle is parked and whether it can be accessed safely. Be ready to show that you are authorized to request the work. If the problem is a home or business lock instead, tell us about the door and hardware so your call follows the right service path.
